Paul Frank began in 1995 in a small Huntington Beach garage when Paul Frank himself began sewing custom wallets as gifts for his friends.  From that small garage, Julius would go on to become a global pop culture icon.

Flash forward almost 30 years and now Julius enters a world where pop-culture meets sub-culture.  A.NI.MA is showcasing the capabilities of Paul Frank and they are transitioning Julius into the creative collectible and fashion realms.

While we were at Designer Con this year we stopped by the A.NI.MA booth where they were debuting their collaborations with three artists: Coté Escriva, Darbotz and David Flores. 

In this article we will be sharing the collectible aspect of these collaborations and we will circle back and share the apparel and accessory portion.

Coté Escriva – (Valencia, Spain)

Cote has emerged as a dynamic force in the world of design, illustration, and toy creation, captivating collectors with his unique blend of street art flair, pop culture symbols, and vibrant hues since his rise to fame in the mid-2010s. His signature vinyl toys, in particular, have garnered significant attention, solidifying his reputation among urban art enthusiasts.

Darbotz – (Jakarta, Indonesia)

Darbotz is an Indonesian graffiti artist based in Jakarta.  His visualization style is distinctive and unique.  He has a stategy for his color cho8ise, which solely emphasizes his use of blacks and whites.  He believes that black and white balances out the urban setting’s festive colors coming from billboards, neon boxes and city lights.

David Flores – (Los Angeles, California)

David P. Flores is an America artist, muralist and product designer.  Flores is best known for his self-proclaimed “Stained Glass” and mosaic or segmented style.  The impact of Flores’ graphic style comes in its ability to allow the viewer to reinterpret a popular image they already have associations with.  Flore’s murals, acrylic paintings and sculptures have many iconic images, including images of late artists such as Andy Warhol, Salvador Dali, Jean-Michel Basquiat and Robert Crumb.
