Not only is this an amazing presentation by some fantastic artists but Sideshow is also making a donation to charity for each completed bust. Here is what they had to say about it all.
Fluent in over six billion forms of communication, C-3PO is best known for his golden exterior, his anxious nature, and enduring presence throughout the iconic film saga. Sideshow has invited nearly 30 artists, designers, and creators from around the world to give the protocol droid an artistic reprogramming while supporting a great cause. Their creations are one of a kind, unique, and not for sale. (DAMN IT, WE HAD OUR FINGERS CROSSED THAT WE COULD SNAG ONE OF THESE.)
For each bust completed in Human Cyborg Relations: The C-3PO Custom Bust Art Show, Sideshow is making a donation to FIRST, a nonprofit dedicated to introducing millions of young learners to STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) education to build a better future. FIRST provides underserved, underrepresented youth access to inclusive, team-based robotics programs as well as mentors, coaches, and other sponsors to inspire learning interest and skill-building.
With skill sets ranging from cosplay construction to sculpting and painting, the Human Cyborg Relations artists took blank busts of C-3PO and transformed them into new and unique interpretations of the beloved character from a galaxy far, far away. If you thought it was hard to recognize him with a red arm, just wait until you see what’s in store for this show.
