Directed by the brilliant Terry Gilliam and based on Hunter S. Thompson’s novel of the same name, “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas” is a bizare psychedelic odyssey into the heart of the ‘American Dream.’ The film follows the frenzied journey of journalist Raoul Duke (Johnny Depp) and his lawyer Dr. Gonzo (Benicio Del Toro) as they embark on a drug-fueled, action-packed trip to Las Vegas.

While covering a motorcycle race for a magazine, their quest descends into a chaotic exploration of excess, freedom, and the elusive nature of the American Dream.  Set against the backdrop of the late 1960’s counterculture, the movie is a visually stunning, surreal, and often, quite grotesque satire that captures the spirit of Thompson’s gonzo journalism, blending reality with hallucinatory episodes in a critique of the decadence and depravity of American society.
