This October, Sony Pictures, in association with Marvel Studios, a new villain is unleashed and he knows no mercy. Sergei Dimitri Symostivych Kravinoff is set to shake things up in the Spider-Verse and by the looks of things… it’s going to be a bloodbath.
Raised by his ruthless father, Russian crime lord, Nikolai Kravinoff, Sergei did not have a sweet, storybook youth. After he is left for dead by his father, (that should tell you something about their estranged father son relationship,) Sergei grows up to become one of Spider-Man’s most formidable enemies and a SERIOUS problem for anyone and everyone that gets in his path.
Last year Aaron Taylor-Johnson spoke to Variety about a couple different things but had this lil’ tidbit to say about ‘Kraven the Hunter’:
Taylor Johnson also spoke about his experience shooting “Kraven the Hunter,” who he described as “one of Marvel’s most iconic, notorious anti-heroes — Spider Man’s number one rival.” He said he found exciting the fact that this character is “not an alien, or a wizard. He’s just a hunter, a human with conviction. An animal lover and a protector of the natural world. He’s a very, very cool character.” He added that unlike other Marvel movies, “this one is shot entirely on location.”
Here is the first poster as well as the red-band trailer for a MUCH darker, anti-hero origin story. Beware the Hunter….
Directed by J.C. Chandor,“Kraven the Hunter” is set to be released exclusively in theaters on Oct. 6. The film stars: Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Sergei , Russell Crowe as his father Nikolai Kravinoff, Ariana DeBose as Calypso, Christopher Abbott as The Foreigner, Alessandro Nivola as Rhino and Fred Hechinger as Dmitri Smerdyakov / Chameleon.
