The man, the myth, the legendary Hideo Kojima is taking us back to the dark and disturbing Death Stranding universe in 2025 with the much anticipated sequel, “Death Stranding 2: On The Beach.” (NOT to be confused with The Cure’s 1986 singles collection, “Standing on A Beach.”) Hideo will once again be at the helm producing, writing, directing and designing the game.
His 2019 hit, “Death Stranding” was set in in an apocalyptic United States, where a cataclysmic event known as the “Death Stranding” caused “Beached Things” (“BTs”)—invisible creatures originating from the “Beach”, lands thought to be unique to each person that are typically visited during near-death experiences and are said to be the link to the afterlife—to begin roaming the Earth.
The game was nominated for a SLEW of awards and it won several including: Best Game Direction, Best Score, Best Performance (Mads Mikkelsen), Outstanding Achievement in Audio Design, Outstanding Technical Achievement, and Excellence in Musical Score to name a few.
The cast of “Death Stranding 2: On The Beach” includes Norman Reedus, Léa Seydoux (Fragile), Elle Fanning, Shioli Kutsuna (Voidout Victim,) Troy Baker (Higgs Monaghan) and George Miller, (Yes, MAD MAX mastermind, George Miller, as Drawbridge Captain) . Reedus’ character “Sam Porter” comes out of retirement to once again save humanity from extinction in a post-apocalyptic UCA (United Cities of America). Did you like Death Stranding 1? Are you looking forward to the sequel? Are you totally creeped out by Sam’s companion “Drawbridge Puppet” or “Drawbridge Captain’s” demon cat like we are?!
