Yep, we’re talking about vampires again so just deal with it. Netflix has just released a trailer for Chilean director Pablo Larraín’s upcoming vampire film, “El Conde” or if you translate it, “The Count.” On September 15th, “El Conde” will hit Netflix and we can assure you, it’s unlike any vampire film you’ve ever seen… and we can’t wait.
“El Conde” is a dark satire by Pablo Larraín that tells the story of Chilean dictator, Augusto Pinochet, a 250-year-old vampire who lives in a dilapidated mansion in southern Chile. You see, Augusto is tired of being remembered as a thief and is ready to die, but “the vultures around him won’t let him go without one last bite.”
“Feeding his appetite for evil to sustain his existence. After two hundred and fifty years of life, Pinochet has decided to stop drinking blood and abandon the privilege of eternal life. He can no longer bear that the world remembers him as a thief. Despite the disappointing and opportunistic nature of his family, he finds new inspiration to continue living a life of vital and counterrevolutionary passion through an unexpected relationship.”
The film is presented in black and white cinematography and shot in remote locations throughout Chile with some scenes in England and France. The trailer left us wanting more and we have already marked it’s arrival this September.
Pablo Larraín’s “El Conde” will be on Netflix starting September 15th and stars Jaime Vadell as The Count, Gloria Münchmeyer as Lucia, Alfredo Castro as Fyodor the butler, and Paula Luchsinger as Carmencita, a young French accountant.
