Disney and Nintendo Switch fans can rejoice because “Disney Illusion Island” a 4-player platform video game, is here. The Essex-based Dlala Studios are the creators of Disney Illusion Island as well as Battletoads (2020). They have also provided work for multiple award-winning titles, such as Sea of Thieves. This time out they are taking Disney favorites: Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Goofy to the mysterious island of Monoth to embark on a dangerous mission. Let’s take a look and prepare for adventure.
Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, and Goofy embark on a new adventure to find three magical books and save the mysterious island of Monoth. You’ll meet unusual allies and dangerous foes as you play solo or with up to three friends as the Fab Four in local co-op*. Work together as you run, jump, swim, and swing your way to victory!
Experience a brand-new Mickey & Friends adventure with hand-drawn animation, a fully orchestrated original score, and featuring performances from the authentic voice talents. You can choose your favorite character and unlock special abilities as you perform high-flying feats, solve fun puzzles, and take on epic boss battles. Each character’s special personality shines through in their actions.
Mickey Mouse – When you think “plucky, brave, daring cartoon mouse,” what’s the first name that comes to mind? It’s Mickey Mouse! No danger is too big and no obstacle so insurmouse-able that this courageous fella can’t tackle it!
Minnie Mouse – Taking part in astounding adventures isn’t easy, but Minnie Mouse is up to the task, and all whilst rocking polka dots! Her ingenuity and heroism have gotten the Fab Four out of many tricky situations, and she keeps cool in the hottest circumstances!
Donald Duck – Getting himself in trouble is Donald’s specialty—and getting OUT is his other one! Gifted with a temper ranging from BLAZING to INFERNO, Donald is happiest when he’s angry. His tantrums can often be channeled into saving the day!
Goofy – With a stomach as big as his heart (okay slightly bigger), Goofy has the unique ability to blunder into success. Innocent, gullible, and clumsy aren’t usually ways you would describe a winner, yet somehow Goofy pulls it off!
With Disney Illusion Island you can play solo or grab up to three friends to save the island of Monoth in 4-player couch co-op. Team up with friends and utilize unique skills such as Rope Drop, Leap Frog with a pal for longer jumps, or simply share a hug for extra health.
There are three biomes of the mysterious island of Monoth and Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Goofy must travel to each of the biomes to recover three stolen Tomes that protect the island. First up is Pavonia, which is the biome of Botany. Pavonia is famous for its incredible flora and fauna. Legend states that Pavonia is fruitful and prosperous due to the protection of “The Highness,” a giant peacock believed to wrap the entire biome within its wings. Everyone withing Pavonia lives in harmony, all trying their best to please The Highness.
The people of Pavonia live alongside the terrarium designers, scholars, and anthropologists of Terrarium Town, each trying to leave their mark and truly understand the wonderful biome in which they inhabit. The next biome is Gizmopolis, the biome of Engineering.
Gizmopolis is known for its incredible logic-defying mechanisms. Built from a collection of discarded parts and pieces, this biome never stands still. It is where the people of Monoth come to live their best lives, known as their “GizLives.” Upkeep of the city has begun to lack, and since the inhabitants moved there to avoid work, they haven’t exactly stepped up.
The separation between non-mechanized and mechanized is apparent. The non-mechanized see robots as tools, while the robots feel the people lack passion. The third and final biome is Astrono, the Biome of Astronomy. The awe-inspiring biome of Astrono is on the Eastern coast of Monoth. Over time the gravity changed, pulling the moons and stars closer together. when the moons collided, their magical Moon Juice spilled out, forming floating pools of wonder, and creating the galactic ocean known as The Sky Below.
Astrono is home to a rich variety of characters, such as the Mayor of Crater’s Bay, who can often be found in the Town Center. The people of Monoth flock to Astrono to join the ever-growing Moon Juice industry.
Last but not least, venture to The Library which is the hub of Monoth. The legend of the Library has changed over the years. the Most recent version is that deep within the island, outside the safety of the biomes, you can find and old, abandoned area filled with books, scrolls, and parchment.
As mysterious as the location itself, the inhabitants of the Library have been debated in detail. The consensus is they’re “undeniably cute but with interesting fashion sense.” It is hoped that one day, these inhabitants might venture out and allow the people of Monoth to finally catch a glimpse.
You never know who you will run into on Illusion Island some are friends some are foes. Let’s see who you will encounter during your adventure.
Toku: The respected and beloved leader of the Hokuns, he’s is also a highly skilled trombone player, there is NOTHING this guy can’t do.
Boomrog: Boomrogs are bulbous creatures who waddle around Monoth minding their own business but upon seeing a potential threat, they release an explosive burst of semi-toxic gas.
Jido: No one knows Monoth like Jido. Jido has scouted every area of Monoth and marked them on map pieces.
Mazzy: The curiously creative Mazzy is the terrific tinkerer of crazy contraptions, combining magic and science into magnificent inventions.
The Hokums: The fuzzy and loyal Hokums are found exclusively in The Library. While short in stature, the Hokums have nonetheless been charged with the protection of Monoth’s greatest prize, the three mystical Tomes Of Knowledge.
Sharpik: Sharpiks are slow-moving slugs covered in spikes. Found in most regions of the island, they are non-combative but adept at self-preservation, and their spikes can deal some serious damage.
