According to Wikipedia, in fiction and mythology, a doppelgänger is often portrayed as a ghostly or paranormal phenomenon and usually seen as a harbinger of bad luck. Other traditions and stories equate a doppelgänger with an evil twin. In modern times, the term twin stranger is occasionally used.
Well Poster Posse artist Salvador Anguiano has released a new series of portraits and he has named it “Doppelgängers.” We absolutely love them and we asked Sal how it came to be. He stated that the project started as a speed painting exercise to practice portrait drawing and painting. He liked the result and just kept going, working on characters he loves or people he admires. (He also said the name is based off a Twin Peaks reference.)
As you will see, Sal is spreading the love between pop culture characters and musicians. (In case you can’t tell, Sal has a bit of obsession with Jack White.) Today, to celebrate the arrival of DUNE 2, we have an exclusive reveal of his latest two “Doppelgänger” portraits, Paul and Channi!
Comment down below as to whoYOU would like to see Sal tackle next. Personally we’d like to see Kiefer Sutherland from “The Lost Boys,” Darth Maul from “Star Wars,” Anya Taylor-Joy from “Queen’s Gambit” and we could go on and on and on…
