The Land of the Rising Sun is a unique, vibrant, distant land that intrigues us beyond our wildest dreams.  From kaiju films to crazy karaoke bars, to delicious food, they have a lot going on.  Whilst perusing the internet we stumbled across their modified scooter scene and now we want to jump in and get our own.

Given that Japan is an island country packed and stacked with a staggering population of over 126 million people, it’s hard to get around, REALLY hard.  All those people are stuffed into a country that is 94% the size of California and all those people need to get somewhere.  Seven days a week, 24 hours a day, people are moving and shaking things up which is not easy because that’s not a lot of space for a lot of people.

One way to make this slightly easier are gentsuki (pronounced ‘gent-ski’) or as we call them here in the states, scooters.  Since the 80’s folks over there have been expressing themselves by modding out their gentsuki and being the envy of those stuck in their cars.  Here are some that we found while going down this rabbit hole.

We apologize if you spiral down the gentsuki rabbit hole.  (If you DO go down the rabbit hole and find more cool gentsuki, please, send them our way.)  As a point of reference, we were typing and searching websites for over 2 hours and literally had to just shut down our computer and walk away.  We’d like to thank AND curse Japan for a whole new obsession…
