Created by Steve Ditko and Stan Lee back in 1962, Marvel’s “Spider-Man” has a seat at Marvel’s pantheon of superheroes. Peter Benjamin Parker may have started out as a teenager with typical teenager issues but on that fateful day, after being bitten by a radioactive spider, his life would change forever.
Over the years, Spider-man would face a bevy of rogues. Individuals who would challenge him in a myriad of ways. today we are sharing the art of Mike Mahle who has an affinity towards Spider-man and those that would wish him harm.
Mike is a designer and illustrator based in Central Illinois known for his vector illustration, bright color palettes, and creative layouts. As he says on his OFFICIAL WEBSITE, he’s “a dog lover, movie aficionado. I like rum, beer, pizza, seafood, and have a raging comic book habit.” (We’ve had a sneak peek at his comic collection and it’s rather impressive if we do say so.)
Mike has just released a new series of art that focuses on Spider-man’s arch enemies and he calls it “Wallcrawler Rogues.” Here is a look at the art along with some words from him about the series.
Mike Mahle – “Some of my favorite character designs belong to Spider-Man’s classic villains. The great Spidey rogues appear in the first 15 issues of The Amazing Spider-Man from 1963–1964. The Vulture, Doctor Octopus, The Sandman, The Lizard, Electro, Mysterio, The Green Goblin, and Kraven the Hunter. I’ve always considered Spider-Man to have the best villains in comicbookdom; besides Batman, Bats has the best hands down. Here are Spider-Man’s best villains presented in their classic costumes. Green was definitely a theme, wasn’t it? Enjoy.”
